Roofing Company in Phoenix, AZ
Phoenix has every roof era in Arizona: 1920s bungalows downtown, 1950s ranch homes with flat roofs, 1970s and 1980s shingle and tile up north, and 2000s tile at the edges. Each one fails its own way. We fix all of them from our Glendale office, about 25 to 30 minutes from central Phoenix, less for North Phoenix.

Roofing built for Phoenix homes
Phoenix is 15 urban villages and more than a century of building. Downtown and Encanto hold the historic districts: Willo, with a median build year of 1944, Encanto-Palmcroft from 1927 to 1942, and Garfield, developed from 1883 to 1955. These are bungalows and period revival homes, many with low-pitched tile or layered shingle roofs.
West and central Phoenix are the ranch-home belt. Maryvale started in 1954 and grew past 30,000 homes between 35th and 91st Avenues, and Arcadia's citrus groves turned into ranch homes in the mid-1950s. These homes carry composition shingle and flat sections, and many flat sections were foamed decades ago and are due for a recoat or a hard look.
North Phoenix runs from 1960s Moon Valley through 1970s and 1980s Deer Valley to 1990s and 2000s tile in Norterra and Desert Ridge. Ahwatukee opened in 1973 and filled in through the 1980s and 1990s with stucco and tile under HOAs, and Laveen is mostly 2000s tile on former farmland. Ahwatukee, Laveen, and North Phoenix are all parts of Phoenix we serve.
Why Phoenix roofs fail
Four things we see on almost every Phoenix inspection.
- Layered roofs in the historic districts and the ranch belt: A home from 1944 or 1958 has been re-roofed more than once. Shingle over shingle and coating over old built-up roof hide soft decking and old leaks. We check what is under the top layer before recommending anything.
- Flat and foam sections past their coating: Thousands of 1950s to 1970s Phoenix homes have flat roofs over all or part of the house. A foam roof lasts as long as its coating, and when the coating cracks the roof holds water instead of shedding it.
- Tile underlayment from the 1980s to the 2000s: Ahwatukee, Deer Valley, Desert Ridge, and Laveen are tile cities inside the city. The tile is fine. The felt under it has had 20 to 40 Phoenix summers and is where the leaks start, usually at valleys and skylights.
- Monsoon wind and dust across the whole city: Monsoon season runs June 15 to September 30 and peaks in late July and August. Gusts lift ridge and edge tiles, dust storms pack debris into valleys and scuppers, and the first hard rain finds every gap.

Monsoon and storm roof repair in Phoenix

If a storm caused the damage, we work with your insurance company on the claim.

Questions people ask
Which parts of Phoenix do you serve?
All of the city, including downtown and the historic districts, Maryvale and west Phoenix, Arcadia and the Biltmore area, Moon Valley, Deer Valley, Norterra, Desert Ridge, Ahwatukee, South Mountain, and Laveen. We also cover every West Valley city listed below.
My Phoenix home is from the 1950s with a flat roof. Recoat or replace?
It depends on how many layers are already there and whether the decking is dry. We check what is under the top layer and tell you plainly which one makes sense. Often a recoat on the flat section is enough.
My Ahwatukee or Deer Valley tile roof is from the 1980s or 1990s. Repair or replace?
Usually the tile is fine and the underlayment is not. A lift and reset with new underlayment reuses your tile and costs far less than a full replacement. The free inspection tells us which one you need.
Do you work in the Phoenix historic districts?
Yes. Exterior changes in a designated historic district go through the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office, so check their rules before changing roof material or color. A like-for-like repair usually does not change the look of the home.
Do you work with insurance after a Phoenix storm?
Yes. We work with your insurance company on storm claims.
Is the roof inspection really free?
Yes. Free, with a written estimate and no obligation.
