Youngtown is a town of two ages. The original homes were built from 1954 on as the nation's first planned retirement community, small single-story houses between Grand Avenue and Olive Avenue, 111th Avenue to the Agua Fria River. Many still carry flat or low-slope roofs from that era.
Then came Agua Fria Ranch. Its 783 homes were built in the early and mid 2000s south of Peoria Avenue and nearly doubled the town. Those are stucco and concrete tile, now about 20 years old.
